  1. Yes, I think the author accurately describes scientific principles in the novel. It clearly means that there is a Dystopian world.
  2. Some details from the novel that it describes that Harrison can fly.
  3. The characters are important because they all have to follow the governments order to not or not to be smart, beautiful or strong.
  4. I think the characters are different from other genres because most of them have nothing to do during the day and just sit there watching tv.
  5. Yes, I do think the characters the characters participate in a document or controversial area of science. They’re are people who have to be exactly like the people the government wants them to be in.
  6. I think this story is not fictional because there is no government like their own and people cannot fly.

  1. Yes, I do think the author decscirbes scientific principles in the novel. It clearly states the appearences of the aliens in the story. What they look like and some of the things that they do.
  2. Some details from the novel that describe scientific principles are,”Their lean, horse-like faces..” “….except cut to fit their long bodies.” “…surprisingly quick in the water…”
  3. Yes, the characters, the aliens and the human act differently because in most stories/movies, the aliens are usually taking over the world and aren’t dating or trying to seduce the humans.
  4. The characters are important to the novel because in the end, the human is wanting to go out on a date with an alien and so it is important that the story must be going on at some point. The human and the alien are getting together.
  5. In the opinion of me, the conflict of the story is red because it is normal for a male to go on a date with a female; although she is different than him in many ways, it’s natural.

Would you want to live in the world of your protagonist? 12/4

I would like to live in the world of my protagonists, but not one of the main characters. I do not want to have the same drama and life as they do. Their lives are complicated and confusing. I wouldn’t want to get caught up in the kind of relationships where there are a lot of mistakes and rumors that twist into very big complications and then is shown out into the whole entire world.

What happened in my book so far and what page are you on?

In my book so far, there is a lot of drama between two girls named Madison and Jane. They fight a lot and try to compete with each other because Madison sort of ruined Jane’s love life. There are two other girls, Hannah and Scarlett. All four of the girls work in a magazine called L.A. Candy. It’s a reality show and there are paparatzii’s that film each of them; whether love life, going shopping, basically follow them everywhere and watch practically their every move. There are all afraid to get caught when it is about their love life or something personal. Also, there is the director named Trevor who is the one who keeps following them, but if any of the girls argue with him, they get cut off; they contribute to this show because they all want to make good money. I am on page 165/278.

Favorite Character from the Hitch Hikers  10/16

My favorite character was the ratty old mad that had special slender fingers. He is remarkably handy with “stealing” or taking things. It reminds me of a character from PUSS IN BOOTS; Kitty Soft Paws. It would be nice to have such talent, although I bet some people would use it for bad deeds and commit crimes, sort of like what the rat man does for a living.

The Non-Fiction book(s) I am interested in~

http://sccl.bibliocommons.com/item/show/240956016_only_yesterday

These are the two books I am interested in. One is called Only Yesterday and the other is The Diary of a Young girl. I did not actually choose these books, but I chatted with a librarian from Santa Clara County Library. I am not very sure if I am interested in it but she or he recommended these books for me.

A Great and Terrible Beauty

Comparing to the people I know and the characters from “A Great and Terrible Beauty”, well, a man named Kantik is very much like a stalker, stalking a young maiden named Gemma; Kantik is very much like a boy named Andre. A girl named Pippa is beautiful and always bubbly just like my friend An. Another girl named Felicity whose father is never there for her and she is smart and very good at the language she is currently learning is very much like my friend Jennifer; although; her father is sometimes there for her. Ann, a girl who is an orphan and has a lovely voice is sort of like my friend Cathy; although Cathy is not an orphan. (120 words)

screamed. The beast went back to the herd and said, “ I got him!” (377 words)

Conflict of My Story

The conflict of my story is a girl named Gemma has some visions that I cannot explain. She has found a diary from one of her visions that belonged to a girl named Mary Dowd who had visions as well along with her friend Sarah. There was a passage or page in the diary that said there was a door of light and that she can restrain her visions. She hoped that the diary could explain the visions which it did not so far. There was one time where she was drunk and proclaimed the diary in front of her friends. Gemma wants to find that door of light where she can control her visions and also wants to hide her secret of her miraculous power. (126 words)

Alternate Ending for “Where the Wild Things Are”

After a long time staying where the wild things are, Max was still having fun with the beasts. Max and the beasts were playing hide and seek. Since the land was far and wide, Max could hide where ever he wanted. He walked pleasantly for a pretty long time until he sought a great tomb, a tomb where the beasts can fit into. Max opened it and once he saw what was inside, his heart skipped a beat. He realized what he saw were bones from the ancient kings that ruled Where the Wild Things Are. He was terrified he was going to run, but then Carol was right behind him, grinning.

Carol turned around and said, “I found him everyone!”

All the other beastly friends ran over and Judith said, “We’ve looking all over for you pal! Where have you been?”

Max was scared. He did not want them to find out that he had been snooping around the island. He said, “I-I-I was j-j-just . . looking for a hiding place.”

The others were confused why he was stuttering so much. Carol said, “He must be cold. Let’s go guys, we have a long way home.”

Max was thinking of running away, but he needed the guidance to find out where he left his white boat.

Two or Three hours have passed and everyone was getting tired and hungry. Soon, everyone started arguing about hunger and fatigueless.

Carol shouted, “BE QUIET EVERYONE!!!”

Everyone got quiet until someone said, “Where is Max?’’

All the beasts turned around and their eyes big and wide. They knew that if someone like Max knew that beasts lived here, they would go back to their world and spread the word to their world. This has happened before so that is why they have eaten their past kings and Max would be one of them.

Story Title: “Stop the Sun”

Author: Gary Paulson

Characters: Terry, Terry’s dad, Terry’s mom

Theme(s): The Vietnam War

Message: To tell someone about your problems whether good or bad because then you would feel a lot better and may be that someone can help you out

Most important quote (remember to cite it) “That’s a bad part of my life….” page 52

Would you recommend this story to a friend and why or why not. I would not because it is a sad story and practically no one I know likes a sad story.

Protagonist of A Great and Terrible Beauty

Gemma, a girl who had just turned 16, has visions from the past and/or present and/or future. Before her mother’s death, she seemed to be very rude. After her mother’s death, she has been very well mannered. She is enrolled to a school named Spence and has encountered many weird visions with strange people. She has a lot to find out of what these visions mean, but she must be careful, or her doom will soon come to her. (79 words)

3) Did you like the story? Why or Why not? (Checkouts)

Did I like the story? Sure, it was ok, I did not like the ending because they did now end up together. It was sort of sad because people should tell other people about their feelings and the boy and the girl did not even express their feelings to each other. For the fault of one another, I think it was the girls fault. What I think is that when one likes someone or crushes on them, they should spend time together rather than staying a long distance away from one another. (92 words)
